Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of extremely fine needles into specific points on the body; the body responds by activating its own natural healing ability.

Acupuncture, according to the modern scientific interpretation stimulates the nervous system to release the body’s own natural chemicals. These chemicals then either modulate the experience of discomfort, or stimulate the release of other natural chemicals and hormones to restore homeostasis in the body.

In more traditional theory, acupuncture utilises meridians through the body, carrying nourishment, information and the essence of life to all tissues and organs.  Some pathways are more abundant in blood others are more in Qi (energy).

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is several thousand years old and is scientifically systematized according to TCM theory. The practitioner will use herbs and minerals to treat the person. The formulas usually consist of four or more, sometimes up to fifteen, different herbs and minerals. The herbal formulas are so finely tuned that when used correctly alongside the right diagnosis, they have none or barely any side effects.

The herbs use the meridian system of the body to stimulate the organs and endocrine systems to re establish the healthy balance of the body.

Chinese Herbal Medicine treats the patient as an individual, with the person’s own needs, and treats the whole body and any specific complaints at the same time.

Tui Na

Like everywhere else in the world, Asia has developed a system of unique massage and bone manipulation for treating muscle/skeleton disorders. These treatments also resolve internal disharmony and restore balance to the body and mind.

We can divide this unique massage technique into two main branches namely:

  • General massage, that is very good for maintaining general well being, relieving stress, removing tiredness and anxiety, relaxing muscles, increasing body energy and strength etc.
  • Therapeutic massage, for the treatment of specific injuries or disorders Eg. Sport injuries; overuse syndromes; sprains; fractures, bruises etc.
